Propel Excellerator™ Overview

The Propel Excellerator, offered by Dr. William Shattuck at his Haslet, TX dental practice, is a procedure in which the gums and bone surrounding the roots of the teeth are stimulated by microsurgical acupuncture. This quickens the effect of your dental aligners and can lessen any discomfort you may experience. The microsurgical acupuncture, or micro-osteoperforations, stimulate blood flow and cytokines to the treated area that help bone remodeling and tooth movement. Used with removable aligners or braces, the Propel Excellerator can shorten treatment time and increase bone support around the teeth. To learn more about adding a treatment with the Propel Excellerator to your removable aligners, make an appointment with Dr. Shattuck at Radiant Dental Care in Haslet, TX.

Best Candidates for Propel Excellerator™

While Dr. Shattuck exclusively uses Invisalign aligners, the Propel Excellerator can help with your orthodontic treatment whether you are using metal braces, lingual braces, clear ceramic braces, or removable aligners. He may recommend the Excellerator if you have bite problems, crowded teeth, or large gaps between your teeth. Dr. Shattuck may also suggest that you use vibration-accelerated orthodontic therapy in conjunction with or instead of the Propel Excellerator. If you are interested in incorporating Propel into your orthodontic treatment, Dr. Shattuck will discuss this with you during your initial consultation.

What to Expect with Propel Excellerator™

The Excellerator treatment is usually performed 4 – 6 weeks after the initiation of your orthodontic treatment, though it can be performed at any time during the treatment process. It can be performed during your regular appointment with Dr. Shattuck and typically takes about an hour, during which you will be lightly numbed so that you do not feel any discomfort. After the procedure, your only restrictions will be no acidic or spicy foods for 24 hours.

Propel Excellerator™ Recovery

Most patients typically only need a single treatment with the Propel Excellerator; however, some patients may need multiple treatments. These treatments would be scheduled 6 – 8 weeks apart. You may experience minor bleeding and inflammation in your gums after your Excellerator treatment. If you do, you may take over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol), but be sure to avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, like Advil or aspirin). Dr. Shattuck will examine your results after your first treatment and determine if you may need more treatments.

Propel Excellerator™ Insurance Coverage

During your initial consultation, we will discuss the cost of adding a Propel Excellerator treatment to your orthodontic therapy. If you have dental insurance, we can contact your provider to determine if your Propel Excellerator treatments will be covered. Radiant Dental Care accepts many payment methods and offers several payment plans, and we can also assist you in finding third-party medical financing.

Propel Excellerator™

If you are having or considering having orthodontic alignment therapy like Invisalign or braces, consider adding a Propel Excellerator treatment. By creating micro-osteoperforations, the Excellerator helps your teeth move into their new positions more quickly and comfortably.
