Dr. William Shattuck performs bonding and contouring at his dental practice in Haslet, TX to improve many types of small cosmetic flaws. An accident can happen at any time; for example, you may take a bad step, trip, and chip your tooth. It's also possible that a tooth can become discolored from an illness or medication. A fast, effective treatment, bonding and contouring uses composite resin (also used for tooth-colored fillings) to hide discoloration, fill gaps between teeth, lengthen a tooth, and even improve a tooth's shape. "The best dentist and dental office ever. I went in for a consult about a tooth that had been pulled by another dentist and after the doctors diving into my dental history about my TMJ and he offered treatment not a bandaid. I am so happy to be doing Invisalign to straighten my teeth and fix my cross bite causing the TMJ issues. I am now more pain free and lessened headaches. I followed all his instructions and recommendations and what was supposed to take 18-24 months is only been 12 months and soon will be over and into retainers and mouth guard. I am so happy i found Radiant Dental. Without him i would be hooked on muscles relaxers that really did not help and may have needed surgery to correct my TMJ. Yes thank you and the staff is amazing. They help me and offered suggestions and advise with any questions i had from Invisalign to billing questions and concerns. This is the best place ever and I know that my husband who recommended them to me and he hates dentists but loves this place! So if your looking for a great dental office then this is where you need to stop looking and come to Radiant Dental."- A.B. / Google / Jan 07, 2020

Dental bonding and contouring may treat cracks, gaps, chips, discoloration, tooth length, and other flaws. Dental bonding and contouring is a more affordable cosmetic procedure and can usually be done in a single visit. It does not need prep work like crowns or veneers, but it is not as strong and typically does not stay on as long. Dental bonding and contouring is ideal for minor flaws, but if you want bigger improvements, a different restorative or cosmetic treatment may be better. At your consult, Dr. Shattuck will listen to your needs and wants and then discuss your options.
What To Expect
Bonding and contouring will be typically done in a single appointment in our office in Haslet, TX. You shouldn't need anesthesia; however, options for sedation may be reviewed with Dr. Shattuck at your consult for concerns like fear, anxiety, and a strong gag reflex. As soon as you're ready, Dr. Shattuck will apply the bonding material to the desired areas aided by one of his assistants. The composite resin will be set, and more layers may be added as needed. After the layers of composite resin are set, Dr. Shattuck will shape and smooth the composite resin and your natural enamel for a beautiful result.
Once you've had bonding and contouring, it's important to not consume staining drinks and food (such as tea, coffee, and tobacco) for two days. The bonding material can stain and chip, so do not bite hard objects like hard candy, pens, and fingernails, and clean your teeth immediately after eating. Teeth that have been bonded and contoured need to be cared for like natural teeth with daily flossing, brushing, and mouthwash. Dental cleanings at Radiant Dental Care can help to polish away stains from the bonding material. With good care, bonding and contouring may last as long as ten years. At your dental examination, Dr. Shattuck can help you determine if your dental bonding and contouring procedure should be done again to refresh your smile.
Bonding and contouring is an aesthetic treatment, so it's typically not paid for by insurance. Our office can talk to your dental insurance company to double check whether it is covered; however, you will probably need to pay for the cost of the treatment on your own. At your consult at Radiant Dental Care, we will discuss your estimated costs as well as our payment options, plans, and third-party financing via CareCredit.
