The grinding of your teeth at night, also known as bruxism, is a common issue that affects many individuals. Although the most noticeable symptom is the deterioration of the enamel of the teeth, nocturnal bruxism may also lead to tooth pain, headaches, and inflammation, plus discomfort in your neck and jaw. To guard your mouth from the effects of bruxism, dentist William Shattuck provides customized night guards that help defend your teeth while you rest. Custom night guards are created with high-grade materials that comfortably fit in your mouth and improve the nature of your sleep by eliminating jaw clenching and teeth grinding. "I have been going here for almost 2 years now and it's always a wonderful experience! I brought my fiance along as a client and she loves it as well. I highly recommend getting all your work and cleaning done here!"- T.G. / Google / Mar 23, 2020
"This office was awesome. First impression was a clean office and friendly attentive front office staff. Overall some of the friendliest accomadating staff i have seen in a while. My hygenist seemed knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable as well as did a good job with my teeth. Same with the dentist, you could tell he knew what he was doing. He put things in terms i could understand and took time to explain my situation. Overall im very happy with my visit and decision to come here."- S.S. / Google / Mar 23, 2020
"Excellent service and great people who care.."- S.A. / Facebook / Feb 28, 2020
"I love this dentist office!!! I recently moved out to Rhome and was in search of a new dentist. I found one extremely close, which I should have realized that close does not mean better. I used to be so comfortable I could fall asleep while having my teeth cleaned. The other place was painful, tense, unprofessional, an unexpected bill (when I was told everything was covered), and worst of all it hurt for 3 days even brushing my teeth. Radiant Dental changed my mind forever. I was hesitant at first because of my last experience at the other place. The staff and hygenist are nothing but extraordinary. Dr. Shattuck made sure I was comfortable and welcomed any questions before having a filling done. He was the least painful dentist I have EVER been to when it comes to fillings. Thanks everyone for such a welcome and professional visit that I no longer have anxiety and can fall asleep in the chair while having my teeth cleaned once again."- I.E. / Google / Feb 23, 2020
"Great staff, that really takes the time to sit and listen. My husband is now coming here too and am going to switch the kids also. Would highly recommend coming here!"- E.J. / Yelp / Feb 17, 2020
A number of indicators may suggest that you are clenching your jaw and/or grinding your teeth at night. Maybe you frequently wake up in the morning with pain in your jaw, a headache, and facial swelling. Other symptoms are loosened fillings or teeth, chipped enamel on your back teeth, a receding gumline, and tooth sensitivity. Grinding and clenching at night are usually caused by stress but can also be brought on by a sleep disorder, misaligned teeth, allergies, or temporomandibular joint disorder (called TMD). While Dr. Shattuck makes your bruxism diagnosis, he will also find out the cause so that your night guard therapy can be coupled with other treatments for the best possible outcomes.
What to Expect
After Dr. Shattuck makes your diagnosis, he will obtain oral impressions and digital oral x-rays to help create your custom night guard. At Radiant Dental Care, we craft your specialized night guard in house from the best materials. After your night guard is complete, we will inform you so you can come in for a fitting. Dr. Shattuck will then make small adjustments so that it fits correctly. You will also be given directions on how to properly care for your night guard so that it will last many years.
For maximum night guard efficiency, you will need to wear it each night. Your night guard should relieve or alleviate the discomfort and dental issues created by bruxism, but if it does not, please call our team so Dr. Shattuck can consider additional issues and try other therapies. In order to help keep your night guard and mouth in good condition, we recommend that you clean and care for both prior to and following each use. Be sure to bring your night guard to all of your future appointments, exams, and cleanings so Dr. Shattuck can repair and adjust the guard as needed.
Once you receive a bruxism diagnosis, some of the cost of your night guard could be paid by your insurance company. If you have dental insurance, our team will call your insurance carrier to obtain your coverage and costs. At your consult, we will give you information about our accepted payment methods as well as your costs, both with or without insurance. For more affordable dental care, Radiant Dental Care offers several payment plans and accepts third-party financing via CareCredit.
