Repair of a Broken Tooth
Trauma to the Mouth
A patient came to see Dr. William Shattuck after a workplace accident. The blow chipped the tooth all the way to the gum line. Luckily the tooth was okay and the nerve was not exposed during the accident. The patient was concerned that he would lose the tooth and have to walk around with a hole in his smile. Dr. Shattuck assured him that he would leave the office being able to smile. The first step was to rebuild the tooth from the inside with a bulk fill bonded resin composite. More
Temporary and Final
Afterward, Dr. Shattuck created a temporary crown, being careful to match the patient's natural tooth color. Two weeks later, the patient saw Dr. Shattuck again to fit his final crown. Dr. Shattuck removed the temporary crown and fitted the patient with his new custom made crown with custom coloring to flawlessly match his other teeth. More
